Highlight #80

Hey y'all, Its another... MOVIE REVIEW MONDAY! this weeks selection was released in 2007 and is the fourth film in a series of four by the same title. Released in Theaters as "Live Free or Die Hard", it is also known as "Die Hard: Reset", "Die Hard: Tears of the Sun", and "Die Hard 4", and let me say, it lives up to the reputation of it's three predecessor. Here it is:

Live Free or Die Hard

Staring Cast: Bruce Willis (John Mclain), Timothy Olyphant (Thomas Gabriel), Justin Long of "High I'm a Mac" fame (Matt Farrell)

Supporting cast: Cliff Curtis (Bowman), Maggie Q (Mai), Jonathan Sadowski (Trey), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Lucy), Kevin Smith (Warlock)

Directed By: Len Wiseman

Written by: Mark Bombeck

What's It rated?: PG-13 (for intense sequences of violence and action, Strong language and one brief sexual situation.)

Synopsis: John Mclain is just another NYPD detective called in to bring a young computer geek (Farrell) to Washington DC for questioning by the FBI cyber-crime department. But when an unknown assassin attempts to kill Farrell, Mclain's mission becomes threefold: to protect Farrell, to kill all the bad guys, and to save his Daughter from the hands of a merciless terrorist who's goal is to "teach the country a lesson for not listening"

My Take: BEFORE I SAY ANYTHING ELSE I need to say, watch the first scene (Bad guy virus download/FBI building blackout), then skip about two minutes of the next scene (you will know this scene by the silver car parked in front of some buildings) this second scene has almost nothing whatsoever to do with the story and, although brief, it's very offencive. The other thing is this: In order to watch this film, I strongly suggest you get some sort of Language filter, practically every sentence has an offencive word.

With that out of the way, I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants a roller coaster ride of a film loaded and cocked with nonstop action from beginning to end; you want it, Die Hard 4 has it, Explosions, gun fights, fist fights, kung fu, car crashes, airplane crashes, helicopter crashes, swat teams... The list never ends!

the film is easy to follow and the story has quite a few twist up it's sleeve. On top of this, Humor is weaved into the story with the coyness of "Bee Movie" but without the cheesy goofy-guy-who-likes-to-make-people-laugh kind of jokes prevalent in National Treasure and it's sequel of the same name.

All round, I wouldn't recommend this film without some sort of filter to almost anyone. but a censored version would be highly enjoyable for an action junky like myself and his movie luvin' buddies.

Story: 7 out of 10

Action: 10 out of 10

Overall: 8 out of 10

Thanks once again for reading, and as I said before, feel free to ask for me to review a movie, I'll will gladly consider each and every suggestion. Thanks! :-)
